The cornerstone on our historic building says "where a community worships together" - this reminds of the foundation that has been set by our spiritual ancestors. Our current leadership has changed to where now our ideal is that, "where a community GROWS together." GROWS is an acronym where the "G" stands for "God's Word", the "R" for "Relationships", the "O" for "Outreach," the "W" for "Worship" and the "S" for "Serving." This is the challenge for our future. As a church, we could simplify it by saying, "We are a church where people are "discovered, discipled and deployed" in order to carry out the Great Commission and the Great Commandment.
People's Covenant Church is part of the Midsouth Conference of The Evangelical Covenant Church, a denomination of more than 850 congregations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Within the Rio Grande Valley, we join hands with two other Covenant churches: 1) Iglesia del Pacto “La Trinidad” in McAllen and 2) Iglesia Evangélica Misionera del Pacto in La Villa. Covenant churches gather around the central truth of the Bible: You matter to God. Set in motion in 1885 by immigrants, today we are a growing, multiethnic, intergenerational mosaic of churches with ministry partnerships in nearly forty countries. We join efforts in the hope of seeing even more people engage in a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, across more populations, in a more caring and just world.
